Theodora Kontogianni

Theodora Kontogianni is an Assistant Professor in 3D Computer Vision at the Department of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science at the Technical University of Denmark, where she is also affiliated with the Pioneer Centre for AI. Her research focuses on advancing 3D perception and spatial AI for autonomous systems, addressing fundamental challenges in how machines understand and interact with three-dimensional environments. Before joining DTU, she completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the ETH AI Center, working with Prof. Dr. Konrad Schindler and Prof. Dr. Siyu Tang, which provided her with extensive experience in some of Europe's leading AI research environments.

Kontogianni's academic journey began with her PhD from the Computer Vision Group at RWTH Aachen University under Prof. Dr. Bastian Leibe, complemented by two research internships at Google Research in both the US and Zurich. Her research interests centre on computer vision with particular emphasis on 3D scene understanding, interactive learning, and continual learning—areas that are increasingly vital for developing robust AI systems capable of operating in real-world environments. This combination of academic rigour and industry experience, along with her focus on spatial AI and autonomous systems, positions her work at the intersection of theoretical computer vision and practical applications.
