György Kovács is a Senior Lecturer in Machine Learning at Luleå University of Technology (LTU), and a member of Machine Learning Group since 2018. He studied Programming at the University of Szeged. In 2018 he received his joint PhD degree from the University of Szeged (Hungary), and KU Leuven (Belgium) for his thesis in Automatic Speech Recognition. From 2013 to 2018 he was a Research Assistant at different research groups associated with the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. From 2018 to 2022 he was a Postdoctoral Researcher at LTU. He is active as reviewer for various journals (Personal and Ubiquitous Computing, International Journal on Speech Technology, Infocommunications) and participated in the organization of several conferences (MSZNY 2022, ICDAR 2021, SAIS 2021, SweDS 2020 – as workshop chair). His current research interests are Deep Learning, Speech and Language Technology, Earth Observation, as well as Ethical and Explainable AI.
